HOW DID LANGUAGE EVOLVE?

Our guiding hypothesis is that the cognitive and neural systems we see in humans, including for complex abilities like language, evolved from systems we shared with our primate ancestors.
By studying these systems in humans, apes and monkeys, we aim to better understand the neurobiological origins of language.
